Ecology
Ecological situation influences real estate market. If it
is favourable, a district is considered to be prestigious.
Here is a survey of the Moscow areas which reveals environmentally
burdensome districts and ones with environmental acceptable
and optimum conditions.
Eastern Administrative District. The district
has several big industrial areas seriously influencing the
ecology of the neighboring locations. The cleanest neighborhoods
are those next to "Losiny Ostrov" park and Izmailovsky
park, as well as those placed behind MKAD (the city limit)
- Novokosino, Kosino, Zhulebino. The dirtiest locations are
those close to the Central Administrative District and South-East.
South-Eastern Administrative District. This
district is one of the most polluted in Moscow. The quality
or the air is badly influenced by Kapotnya oil-processing
plant and Lyublino steel plant. There is also a bunch of industrial
companies located along the Moscow River. Polluting industries
exist in all parts of the district, but the worst are Maryino,
Lyublino, Kapotnya.
Southern District. Kapotnya oil-refinery
and Lyublino steel plant are again the worst pollution sources.
The least polluted areas in this district are: Chertanovo
(except for Varshavskoye highway), Biryulyovo. Mind Brateevo
and Orekhovo-Borisovo. Despite a comparatively low content
of polluting exhausts in the atmosphere, the scale of the
terrain suggests pollution accumulating in the air. This makes
the areas the worst-polluted in the whole city especially
on the days, when the weather fosters harmful exhausts to
accumulate in the air. These areas initiate most of the population
complains.
South-Western District. One of the cleanest
in Moscow and its best parts - Yasenevo, Teply Stan and Severnoye
Butovo. There are no big pollution sources
in the district, but those located in the Southern district
seriously influence the south-western areas.
Western District. The cleanest areas are
Solntsevo and Novoperedelkino, placed outside MKAD. The district
doesn't have bad pollution sources, but still the industrial
areas located along Mozhaiskoye highway and Kutuzovsky avenue
seriously concern the ecologists.
North-Western District. This is the cleanest
district in the city. Its best parts are Mitino, Strogino,
Krylatskoye. The district doesn't have big industries and
car fumes pollute the air only where the territory is crossed
with large motorways.
Northern District. The pollution in this
part of the city is not high. There is an industrial area
next to Voikovskaya metro station. The south of the district
is dirtier than the north.
North-Eastern District. The north of this area is much cleaner
than its south. To the north of VDNKh metro station there
are no serious pollutants, but there are some industrial sites
influencing the neighborhoods nearby. However, the south of
the district hosts several big industrial zones and busy traffic.
Central District. No significant industrial
pollution sources.
